Amon Focus:
New Orleans, Louisiana – I am loving the music here, but there’s a musical journey you’ve got to check out in Alabama. I’m headed out on a Gulf Coast road trip you might say.
Hosea London:
Mobile is full of friendly people. We’re very welcoming. We love for people to come to Mobile. And Mobile is a big blues town.

The Excelsior Brass Band was actually formed in 1883. I joined the band in ‘76.
Amon Focus:
’76?!
Hosea London:
Yeah. These guys will never leave the band. Once you’re in, you’re in.
Mardi Gras actually started in Mobile. Mardi Gras was in Mobile before New Orleans. So that is one of the things that we’re very proud of, and we just love Mardi Gras. It’s a party.
Amon Focus:
Wherever you go in Alabama, you’re going to hear some for-real good live music, and that’s the case here in Callaghan’s. But I’m here for the signature burger, the Guinness and the good live music.
(band plays)
I am in Gulf State Park, and it is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve still got more to do: We’re headed to Lulu’s, we’re headed to The Hangout. They’ve got live music everywhere.
The band’s setting up, the crowd has formed, and I’m here at Lulu’s about to hear some really great live music. Let’s get it going.
Lead singer:
C’mon, Alabama. Let’s do it. (sings)
Amon Focus:
We made it to The Hangout. This is the place. If you want to catch live music, this is where you come. Throughout the year, there’s always live music, there’s always great food, and they say the drinks here are insane.
It’s been a beautiful experience, day after day after day. Just a real true Alabama experience.
